What Is Halitosis?

Halitosis is actually a common thing, it is what we call chronic bad breath! But the one main way halitosis is not similar to bad breath in the morning is it remains for a longer amount of time. Normally, morning breath does not smell good because the saliva in your mouth dries up when you are asleep. This is the reason why people should brush their teeth after they wake up, after brushing the teeth you could basically eliminate the odors. On the other hand, you cannot eliminate halitosis immediately by brushing your teeth. However, it is not difficult to cure or prevent halitosis!

If you doubt that you have halitosis, you can ask your friends or relatives to smell it since it is difficult to assess it by yourself. Feeling awkward to ask someone doing this? There is one way you can check it! Lick your wrist and smell it after it is dry. If it does not smell good, then you probably have a halitosis problem!

What Causes Halitosis?

Before knowing how to cure halitosis, you should know what causes your breath bad first! Typically you have halitosis because of bad oral hygiene but there are still different factors that lead to halitosis.

Bad Oral Hygiene

The bacteria on your teeth and tongue is the main reason that you have halitosis. People eat and drink a lot every day, the food particles would not disappear when you finish eating unless you brush and clean it. The food particles would remain on your teeth and tongue and the plaque would later form between them.

Dry Mouth

Saliva does a lot of things such as washing away food debris, cleaning your mouth, removing food particles...etc. If you have a dry mouth, otherwise known as xerostomia, your production of saliva decreases. This is the reason why your morning breath smells bad, the smell would be even worse if your mouth is open while sleeping.

Tobacco

First of all, the smell of cigarette smoke will remain in your breath even after you finish it. Second, smoking dries your mouth and reduces saliva. Besides those factors, smoking also is one of the causes of gum disease.

Infections

You might have halitosis after having an oral surgery such as tooth removal because of the wounds. Other than that, you will also have halitosis if your mouth is infected with gum diseases, tooth decay, cavities...etc.

Medications

Some medicines that you are taking might cause dry mouth that reduces your saliva and causes bad breath. Others might cause bad breath after they break down in your body and release chemicals in your breath.

Yes, You Can Definitely Cure Your Halitosis!

Before going to a dentist, you should try to change your lifestyle and your oral cleaning habit first!

If you have halitosis issues, you should brush your teeth once you finish eating so the food particles would not remain in your mouth. Novashine Ultra Sonic Whitening Toothbrush would personalize your brushing experience!

  • Mouthwash: You can also use a mouthwash after brushing your teeth to enhance the cleaning process. Novashine Teeth Whitening Mouthwash allows you to freshen your breath and clean your mouth virtually!
  • Brush your tongue: People often neglect to brush their tongue while brushing their teeth. In fact, your tongue has as much bacteria as on your teeth.

  • Floss: Floss at least once a day. Since sometimes it is hard for a toothbrush to clean the plaque between your teeth, you should also use dental floss!

  • Keep your mouth moist: In order to prevent dry mouth, you should drink more water instead of coffee or other drinks. You can also chew gum or eat candy to stimulate your saliva.

  • Change your toothbrush regularly: No matter if you are using an electric or a manual toothbrush, you should change them every three to four months. A new toothbrush can remove more plaque than the one that is frayed, the frayed bristle might cause halitosis or gum disease. If you are using Novashine Ultra Sonic Toothbrush, you will know that Ultra Sonic Whitening Toothbrush Replacement Head treats your gum gently and it does not fray easily.
