New Year's Resolutions WORTH sticking to!

Most of us ended 2021 the same way: everyone shouting from 10 while counting down to 1 surrounded by friends and family, laughter and smiles. Some of us may have even started 2022 the same way: hugging our loved ones or kissing our significant others as the clock struck midnight. However, something we ALL came into 2022 with was the hopes and aspirations we have to stick to our new and improved selves or at least to work towards it. If you are anything like me, you have looked back at your past New Year's Resolutions and realized they were too vague, maybe too specific, but most importantly, something you did not stick to. Well, here are New Year's Resolutions WORTH sticking to, how to achieve them, and why!

Drink More Water 

Why:

As my water tracking app likes to remind me, "Thousands have lived without love, not one without water". Water is a necessity for our bodies as it helps with digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and helps maintain body temperature. To sum it up though, it is SUPER important for us! 

More important, water is good for your TEETH! Water helps with dry mouth, and plaque can't build up in a mouth that is clean and hydrated! 

How to Achieve:

It can be pretty overwhelming to know how many ounces of water your body needs a day to stay healthy! Start with an achievable goal and then work your way up! It's also important to realize that once your body gets into the habit of consuming more water, it won't feel like you are forcing yourself to constantly take a sip from your water bottle. There is no magical number I can give you to how much water you should be drinking daily, do your research, and listen to your body!

Plant Nanny is a great app that allows you to water your plants as you drink water; you can kill your plants by not sticking to your goals!

I also had the worst habit of being too lazy to refill my water bottle. To combat this, I bought a 64oz water bottle! LIFE SAVER!!!

Exercise More

Why:

Sitting around all day, whether it be for work or otherwise, is draining for our bodies. Exercise is known to control weight, combat health conditions and diseases, improve mood, boost energy, and promote better sleep. 

How to Achieve:

First, it is important to figure out what kind of exercise makes you feel EXCITED to work out! The #1 reason why we fail at our fitness goals is that we try to force ourselves into a lifestyle that we do not find interesting. Believe me, simply wanting to see results will not push you out of bed on those days you really lack motivation.

Figure out, do you like working out with friends? One person? Maybe your significant other? Alone? Is music a motivating factor? Do you enjoy cycling? HIIT? EMOM? Crossfit? Weightlifting? Figuring out what brings you pure joy will be your best bet to sticking to your fitness goal!

Do More Self-Care

Why:

Putting yourself first can be an extremely daunting task, especially if you are used to constantly being there for everyone at all times. Self-care is proven to improve self-love, positivity, and overall give you a sense of tranquility. It is important to remember that you are a person too! You DESERVE some you time!

How to Achieve:

Look at your busy week ahead and schedule some you time. Most importantly, STICK TO IT. Don't let other plans feel more important than giving yourself quality time! Self-care has no time limit. Need 20 minutes? Need 2 hours? Take the time you need because it's YOUR time! Self-care also looks different for everyone! Spend More Time with the People You Love

This one is prettyyyyy self-explanatory and doesn't need a why. Life is short, enjoy it surrounded by the people who care about you!

How to Achieve:

Make plans in advance and do your best to stick to them! There's no need to find an excuse when it comes to spending time with those you care about. Everything in life comes and goes, family stays forever (and really good friends too)! 

Regardless of if your New Year's Resolutions succeed or fail, start 2022 off with a vision of the best version of yourself that you can possibly be - and then set after it!
